What annoys me about Palin and company is their claim to represent an average middle American family, just the usual hockey mom (soccer mom in the rest of the world) and her typical all-American brood.
Really, nothing could be further from the truth.
The Palins are eccentrics, weirdos to unkind Democrats, from the place where they live to the names they give their children to the crankish church they attend. There is nothing average or middle American about them.

Now, there is nothing wrong with being eccentric at all, I am something of an eccentric myself, but there is definitely something wrong with plastering it over as part of a transparent “plain folks” propaganda appeal.
