I guess someone did it for the lulz.

If they really did. Could have just taken it down themselves. Who knows? It's all lulz.

4chan down due to DDOS? Say it isn't so.
What happened - did someone set LOIC for stun/backfire?
And while the situation is comedy gold for irony, it still is illegal to engage in these kinds kinds of attacks. Hope those responsible can be tracked down and caught.

In the future, everyone will be denied service for 15 minutes.

Small potatoes. But even small potatoes can plug the asshole of the internet.

Who can you trust if you can't trust an online pornographer?

Hey, Alvin Greene is going to run for the South Carolina House! And I thought we were done with this dude. Clearly, he will provide many years of entertainment to come.

4Chan does go down from attacks sometimes, whether from other other forums, or internal battles. Is it all of 4chan or just /b/ down? (I am at work, so I don't go to 4chan from here, lol). Sometimes, if just /b/ goes down, the /b/tards take over another area of 4chan (usually /gif/) until it comes back up.
This could even be done by 4chan people trying to punish the "Anon" folks, for getting too much attention focused on the site. Plus since it is xmas break, there are probably a lot more of the kiddies around with free time this week, to cause trouble and/or lulz.

On reddit people are suggesting that its either:
1: entirely for the lulz/meta-lulz
2: a way delineate 4chan itself from the DDOS attacks
3: a publicity stunt

If it was the Feds, there could be a little more strategy behind it. All of this Anon stuff comes through /b/ on 4chan, and apparently the rest of 4chan resent that board. This DDOS took the whole site down, which might motivate some of the other boards to try and clean up or finally boot /b/. Or at the very least, create infighting.

Ah, delicious irony. And I thought I wasn't going to have time for lunch today.

4chan is back up....and its owner (aka "moot") is trolling /b/ as payback. the /b/ board was changed to some horrendous colors and the "Cotton Eyed Joe" dance song plays on a loop.
