President Obama in Charlottesville, VA: “Sometimes They Just Make Things Up”

Politics • Views: 32,468

President Obama discussed the other side’s method of campaigning and why it’s important for young people to get involved in this campaign.

“One of their campaign people said, ‘We won’t have the fact-checkers dictate our campaign. We will not let the truth get in the way.’ Think about that. They’re counting on young people to just accept their version of the way things ought to be.”

Both sides do it ... or something.

I like AP, I believe, describing the Romney campaign as taking "factual shortcuts."

The truth is a lot like the GOP platform, in that the Romney campaign doesn't agree with all of it.

I think he really does hit this on the head - the Romney campaign is counting on cynicism and ignorance to win the election. The right has made deliberate ignorance a badge of honor in this campaign, so there's a huge amount of social pressure in conservative circles to toe the line and parrot the hate propaganda, even though many of them know full well how dishonest it is.

Pregnant Woman Relieved To Learn Her Rape Was Illegitimate

Though she was initially upset following the brutal sexual assault last month that left her pregnant, victim Martha Byars told reporters she was relieved Sunday to learn from Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) that her ability to conceive her unwanted child proves she was not, in fact, legitimately raped.

“Being violently coerced into having sex was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, so I take comfort in knowing it wasn’t actually rape,” Byars said of the vicious encounter in which she was accosted in an alleyway by a stranger, pinned to the ground, and penetrated against her will for 25 minutes. “It was absolutely horrific—I felt violated in the worst way imaginable—but thanks to Congressman Akin, I now realize it must, at some level, have been consensual after all.”

“Thank God for that,” Byars added. “I’m so relieved to know that my child’s father, the man who muffled my screams as he forcefully penetrated me over and over and left me hemorrhaging to death on the street, is not a rapist.”

Another Romney Abortion Flip-Flop: No Exceptions for Health of the Mother

In an interview with CBS News on Monday, Mitt Romney said he disagreed with his own party’s support for criminalizing abortion without exceptions: “My position has been clear throughout this campaign; I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.”

Of course, Romney’s position on the legality of abortion has been anything but clear, and now his campaign denies that he supports health exceptions for abortion.

Marjorie Dannenfelser of Susan B. Anthony List, a major anti-choice group, in an interview with Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association insisted that the Romney campaign told her that Romney does not in fact believe in exceptions for the health of the mother, contradicting what he said in the Monday interview. If he did, Dannenfelser said, he would not have received the endorsement of her anti-choice organization.

While the spin continues over the closing of the Janesville plant, the good news is that there are dozens of other factories in other cities that are still open and employing thousands of Americans thanks to the leadership of the Obama administration and had Mitt Romney had his way in the matter, the entire corporation would have been liquidated.

So its a load of crap for Lyin' Ryan to attempt to pin the closing of Janesville on Obama.

GOP Convention Blessed By New Apostolic Reformation Leader Samuel Rodriguez

While Rodriguez's public speech before secular audiences is typically moderate, when addressing movement audiences a very different Samuel Rodriguez can emerge. In 2006, the Rev. Rodriguez told members of a Utah church,

"We have radical Muslims. Radical homosexuals. Radical abortionists. We need radical, born again, spirit filled Christians to arise ! Do you follow me ? We don't need any sissy Christians, Oprah Winfrey Christians. We need prophetic, devil stomping, demon rebuking, blood washed, Bible believing, free-from-sin Christians !"

In 2010, at an Oak Initiative event speech, Rev. Rodriguez compared legal abortion to genocide, called for political candidates who shared a "Biblical worldview", and stated,

"The Tea Party, God bless you, CPAC, Council on National Policy, look at your audience! If your audience is 99.9 percent white, no te vista, que no va! The election is not going to happen at a national level. You need to go beyond that--enlarge your tent. Get it off the party platform and put it into practice, in the name of Jesus, and then you will see something happen in your party. This message was sponsored by the Oak Initiative."

But how can you find any fault with Mother Church...

Catholic newspaper scrubs interview after priest says children are ‘seducers’

“People have this picture in their minds of a person planning to — a psychopath. But that’s not the case,” Groeschel explained. “Suppose you have a man having a nervous breakdown, and a youngster comes after him. A lot of the cases, the youngster — 14, 16, 18 — is the seducer.”

“Well, it’s not so hard to see — a kid looking for a father and didn’t have his own — and they won’t be planning to get into heavy-duty sex, but almost romantic, embracing, kissing, perhaps sleeping but not having intercourse or anything like that,” he continued.

Groeschel called the abuse “an understandable thing,” and pointed to Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, who he called a “poor guy.”

I love The real Mitt Romney from David Brooks. This is an instant classic.

Mr. Romney is also a passionately devoted family man. After streamlining his wife's pregnancies down to six months each, Mitt helped Ann raise five perfect sons -- Bip, Chip, Rip, Skip and Dip -- who married identically tanned wives. Some have said that Mr. Romney's lifestyle is overly privileged, pointing to the fact that he has an elevator for his cars in the garage of his San Diego home. This is not entirely fair. Mr. Romney owns many homes without garage elevators and the cars have to take the stairs.
