Watch Live: 2016 Democratic Convention, the Joe Biden Moment
And now, the Vice President, Joltin’ Joe Biden.
And now, the Vice President, Joltin’ Joe Biden.
Thanks for your service, Mr. Biden. You would’ve made a great President.
Damn, I would love to be there tonight.
For the DNC protesters trying to recreate ‘68, allow me to remind you:
Nixon won in 68.

“One of the finest Presidents we have ever had.”
YOU GOD DAMN RIGHT!!!!
If the Berniebros try to shout down Obama I’m going to lose it. Somebody chain me up in the basement.
“He’s become a brother to Jill and me…Michelle, I don’t know where you are, but you are incredible!”
“Barack, we already know who gave the best speech.”
“Barack and I both married up. Way up.”
You have to love an old white man calling a black man his brother.

These people are not good people. They *think* they are superior, with superior morals, but in reality they are wishing pain on a lot of people and there’s nothing moral or decent about that.
oh lookie…Bernie & Jane are in the house.

I’ll be honest- I blame Bernie for this shit.

Their sense of superiority infuriates me. And yeah they want people to suffer so we can see how wrong we were for not nominating Bernie. It’s sick.
Bernie looking like an old curmudgeon. And that’s after his supporters made assholes (again) out of themselves. And him.
Do not tell me there is not a difference between Democrats and Republicans. If you do, you are an imbecile.
awwww…I wish Joe could have been President.
But at least we had him as the greatest VP ever.
Also note: None of the Trump spawn EVER served in the military.

well… u know what… let them have their say… let them be disrespectful. We note down who they are and accept their misguided passion for what it us and we stay focused on what matters. The insults are petty and small and we should understand that and accept them for what they are… petty and small. we all know folks that are so far up their own asses that they can’t see, well, these are their political equivalent.
Doesn’t mean I like it, and yes, I know its disrespectful, but strong arming them or insulting them isn’t going to change them. Educating them might.

Charles, a question that you do not need to answer.
How should one feel about protesters now when some of us may have been like that when we were younger?
I admit I got into some dumb stuff concerning Viet Nam. I’m thinking some other around here may have too. And some of it may not have been at the correct time and place.
To be honest, the Bernie children don’t really scare me anymore. I think even the media realizes their numbers are so small, that the Democratic Discord narrative won’t stick if they try it.

Mike Pence tells Waukesha Republicans Donald Trump is on their side
Making his first solo appearance of the national campaign, Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence swooped into Wisconsin’s GOP heartland to assure supporters that presidential candidate Donald Trump is on their side.
“Having the opportunity to know this good man, I truly believe this builder, this patriot, this fighter is going to make America great again,” Pence said.
The Indiana governor joked that he was a “B-List Republican celebrity.” But as a social and fiscal conservative, he was dispatched to a part of Wisconsin that decisively rejected Trump during the April primary but which is key to Republican hopes of winning the state in the fall.
Pence’s appearance at the Waukesha County Exposition Center came in the wake of Trump’s controversial remarks urging Russia to find Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.

They’ve interacted on multiple occasions, including at various charitable events (the ones that show Trump with Clinton (and Rudy and Bloomberg and Torre)). And they’ve had dealings b/c of Trump’s real estate holdings in NYC. He sees first hand what Trump’s on about.
But Bloomberg’s admin also green lit the Trump giveaway golf course in the Bronx.
Letter to Sully tonight that I fully endorse:
I’m a lifelong solid Democrat. A stereotypical one even. Skeptical of patriotism and the greatness of America. I went into this convention very lukewarm on Hillary. I was voting for her, but primarily because when the choice is a neo-fascist or not a fascist, you choose not a fascist. That’s your damned duty as an American.
But after the last few days, watching these bozos push their whiny lips out and shout down and boo decent people who have worked for decades to make this country better, I’m 100% with her. I’m fully on board. And it was that petulant attitude of the Bernie diehards that did it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this patriotic. It’s my duty-all of our duties-to keep this fascist buffoon out of the Oval Office. And that the Bernie-or-busters and the craven GOP enablers of Trump can’t see that, or feel that, or understand that, makes me incensed. I will not let them pout or pander us into armbands. No fucking way.

The argument against Trump has almost nothing to do with the RNC. The argument against Trump is based on the fact that everything the man says and does shows that he is totally unqualified to be anything except a supposedly-rich reality TV asshole.

True, lasting change is always messy. You need people working within the system to influence the legislative agenda and codify change into law (i.e. voting, running for office, calling legislators, etc.) and people working outside the system to put pressure on actors within the system (i.e. protests, sit-ins, other disruptive acts).

True, lasting change is always messy. You need people working within the system to influence the legislative agenda and codify change into law (i.e. voting, running for office, calling legislators, etc.) and people working outside the system to put pressure on actors within the system (i.e. protests, sit-ins, other disruptive acts).
I think my biggest issue with the chanting tonight is it was counterproductive. It was done because they felt the people who were speaking are associated with war and therefore those voices shouldn’t be heard, never mind the content of what those voices were saying.

Oh, I know. I don’t let the label define me anyway, so it doesn’t bother me. But it made it easy to be aware that there are people on the left who can easily be as strident and intolerant as those on the right. (AND HEY, we have those too. See the whole state of Jefferson mess for an example.)
I’m just a lot more pragmatic and choose my issues where I won’t compromise differently.
