Watch Live: Barack Obama’s Speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention
This is the moment we’ve been waiting for.
This is the moment we’ve been waiting for.
No matter what, thank you President Obama, for eight years.

I used to be a wingnut, and I voted Democrat for the first time when I voted for Obama in 2012. I’ll never regret that vote.
I am so so happy that Obama has been our President. So proud to have voted for him twice.
“And I miss you when you’re not around” is gonna be the mantra of a lot of people for a long time, even if (when!) Hillary does a great job.
OKAY! I look forward to No-Fucks-Left-To-Give Barack Obama.
That was a fitting film intro for a fine president. Just a little choked up though.

I seriously do not get people who think he is negative and divisive.
Wonder what kind of stoooopid shit will Baby Whiplash defecate? (NOT!)
If those Bernie shits interrupt this I am gonna go ape.
I can’t believe I ever hated this guy. He’s truly a decent man that exudes confidence and light.

I made the wrong choice in 2008. Fortunately the country made the right one. I did not repeat my mistake in 2012, and I will make the right choice again this year. I will also work to see that the country makes the right choice again.

I remember watching Obama’s speech at the DNC in 2004 and saying to a fellow wingnut friend of mine “This guy is gonna be a star.” Little did I know I would vote for him eight years later.
that moment when POTUS is speaking and someone set the DVR to record 2 other shows at the same time and the channel changes on you? Yeah, had that happen. Got the live stream going now.
I get the feeling that Trump is going to want the number of the truck that is about to steamroll him.

Cool! Mr. C. and I stayed just near Lake Nipigon for one night on our honeymoon. (Nearly 40 years ago. God, I’m old.)
You’re not old, just well-seasoned. (::
To be fair though, forty years ago I was still in high school (an exchange student in Brazil).
From Sully’s live blog:
10:54 p.m. I’ve never felt this way about a president, so I might as well admit it. Against hideously graceless opposition, in the face of extraordinary odds, facing immense crises, he stayed the course and changed this country. This election is, at its core, about not letting a bigot and a madman take that away from all of us.
You can see Bill saying “that’s right, that’s right.”
“no man, no woman, no one, not me, not Bill, more qualified to be president than Hillary.”

I am so proud that my first vote for president for this man.
I just watched a politician talk… And I feel better afterwards. What the hell is this magic?
He should exit to You Dropped A Bomb On Me.

President Obama sticks the dismount. The Romanian judge awards a “10.”
The Russian judge awards a zero.
Watching BBC America, I love the word “masterclass” used to describe Obama’s speech.
Right. I’m off to bed. It’s daylight outside again….
Now we’re being chucktodded … two different Americas…
Last I thought those were North and South.
Wonder what Obama whispered to Hillary… wonder if it was about soaking in the moment, and enjoy it while the heavy lifting is still to come.
Like Bill said last night, speeches are easy and fun, it’s what comes next that’s hard.
That’s ultimately what this convention is about - preparing for the marathon to November and getting out the vote to win the White House and rolling back the GOP in Congress and state houses across the nation.
Democrats have the best words. All the best words. Believe me.
OK,when Hillary came out and they were together, I got a little teary-eyed (and it looked like Bill was saying, “Don’t they make a cute couple?”
Trump and his gang sound like a chorus of angry chihuahuas by comparison.
re: #320 lawhawk
I think it was the shade to Bill.
REMINDER: The reason we have the 22nd amendment is because once we get a good Democrat in office, America has a tough time letting go.

A bi-partisan appeal. Fucking genius.
I’ll bet record number of Republicans are going to vote across party lines this year.

No insult to chihuahuas intended.
I feel bad that I never actually voted for @BarackObama. He’s a good president, awesome speaker, and a great agent of inspiration.

I couldn’t help but to think how in 2008, I didn’t like her at all and had some passionate arguments with my mom’s folks who did like her and didn’t like Obama. My grandfather left us the next year but my grandmother is still with us and she’s come around on Obama just like I have on HRC. I think that’s pretty neat.

In my imaginary Obama speech, he called them poop-flinging chimpanzees. But that would be rude… To chimpanzees.
He is better at talking than everyone, basically. #DemsInPhilly

If Obama won over fuckin’ Erick Erickson with that speech, he won over a bunch of other people too. Donald Trump doesn’t stand a chance.

Signed sealed delivered playing… . and that’s a wrap.
Damn, I am proud to be a liberal with liberal leaders like these.
Whoever has the cowbell, will the person next to him shove it up into that guy’s colon?
Compare this to last week??????
Are you f’n kidding me??????
In November the GOP will lose because dark paranoia from The Donald can’t touch that essential sense of the positive we Americans strive for.

That is is about the lamest response I’ve ever heard from a Republican and I’ve seen Marco Rubio speak.

That’s why I’m optimistic. The tones of these two campaigns couldn’t be anymore different.

I started the evening saying for the first time I thought Trump could win. Then Obama spoke. I’m so angry at my own party right now.

Exactly. I am glad to have been wrong about Clinton. I cannot wait to see what she and Kaine can do.

Well, I need to get to bed. Long drive to Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow. G’night y’all.

Seems like the scales have fallen from his eyes.
He might be beginning to grow up a little. Maybe some of it is because he hates what Trump is doing to the Family Values label the GOP has but I think there may be a genuine thing with him here, if it was just resenting what Trump has done to the family values label, I think he would still be snipping at Obama some. Anyhow, if he wants to leave his party, he should.

My first vote went for Jimmy Carter’s reëlection. While he lost, I certainly don’t feel as though I wasted a vote.

I voted for Carter both times. And he was the first president I saw speak on the campaign trail in 1980 here in Columbus in front of Nationwide Insurance headquarters.
Meanwhile down High Street speaking at almost the same time in front of the Ohio Statehouse was Ronald Reagan.
Battle of the presidents here in Columbus. I will never forget it.

Except for Jeffrey Lord. Lordy he’s terrible. At one point when he was telling some boring ass story about Kaine’s father in law, you could see the whole panel slipping into self-induced comas to escape.
re: #199 Great White Snark
Thank you, and encourage all the sane and responsible gun owners you know to do the same. The NRA does not represent you, they don’t speak for you, they’re using you to make money.
There is common ground here, and room for common sense, and I hope that as a nation we’re reaching critical mass regarding gun sense and the intransigence that makes change nearly impossible.
