MADE UP MIND
(Written by David Landreth/Joseph Sydney Landreth/Jonathan Singleton)

It starts out slow
With go ahead and go
Pretty soon the melody is like a rainstorm tin roof symphony
But it starts out slow
It goes on and on
For way too long
It always ends on a bad note
If you could dance at all you’d dance alone
It goes on and on

The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won’t break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind

There ain’t no rhyme
Just wasted time
Moonlight spotlight shining down on
A made up mind and a love gone wrong
There ain’t no rhyme

The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won’t break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind

The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won’t break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind

Bonnie is in fine voice but it’s distressing that she played so little guitar in that video, but then again I’m so glad to have another Bonnie album available.

Here’s another version that (to me) sounds more like a live performance.

My dad liked brains cooked up in a skillet. His uncle was a butcher so he’d tried lots of funky bits. He had to eat it alone because the sight and smell of brains would send us kids fleeing. I don’t recall seeing my mom join him, but we weren’t there to watch.

Is that one of the Russian saboteur/spy/fifth column bots some one (a Republican, no doubt) proposed to deploy on American campuses? If so, borrow a tractor from the Ag department (if you have one, a wrecker truck if not), hook onto it, and tow it to the nearest FBI office or military base.

I’m getting convinced that Elon Musk isn’t going to finalize the deal to buy Twitter. The way he’s behaving just doesn’t make sense unless he’s trying to fuck it up, and his ideas for making money out of it are just stupid.

Charge for embedding tweets? WTF? First, Twitter doesn’t own those tweets; their TOS specifically says users own their own content. Second, how could he stop people from just taking screenshots to get around the charge? This idea is so dumb on its face it gives me a headache.

Verify everybody? This actually made me laugh. I’d love to see him try to make THAT work.

Bring back all the banned Nazis and far right shitheads? Oh yeah, advertisers would just LOVE that.

The guy is seriously whacked out so he may surprise me and actually try to do all this stuff, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Today we landed in Cherbourg. Lots of people went off on various tours planned around the Normandy invasion, but I went to see the record of an earlier amphibious operation (the Bayeux Tapestry — it’s actually an embroidery, and there are kits for reproducing your own embroidery of one of the panels). Then a tour of Bayeux — one of the few towns in this area that wasn’t bombed during the war. I’m sure another reason that Europeans buy smaller cars is all those towns with the streets built during medieval times. And the Bayeux Notre Dame Cathedral. We weren’t there long enough to really get a good idea of the whole cathedral (it’s enormous), but I went down into the crypt, where the oldest parts of the church were. Second cathedral in three days, since I saw Santiago de Compostela a couple of days ago. (No new sarcophagi discovered in either, as far as I know.)

Southampton tomorrow.

re: #62 A hollow voice says Vaccinate the world!

On the wall in the Bayeax Tapestry museum in a couple of places.

This was on the wall in 2016 when I saw it. Great place to visit.

Interesting thread discussing the history of Russian imperialism and language through the lens of one Ukrainian family.

[Embedded content]

Yes, very interesting!

The use of language to affect identity was also tried by the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the 1800’s.

The opposition against the restriction of Czech and Slovak language use in state institutions figures prominently in the rebirth of the national identity movements there.

The way I like to say this is that there’s only one political issue in the US these days — support for or opposition to Republican fascism. No real progress (or even change) is going to happen on any other issue until this fascism vs. not-fascism issue is settled.

I’m being forced to leave my flip phone behind. The 3G network is going down. So I’m researching new flip phones. Reviews often start with the word ‘quaint’ in the first paragraph. In-person Verizon reps use the ‘might as well…’ pitch for upgrading to smart. I’m shopping for 2 of us. He’s 83, we’re not ready for smart. It will be nice to be using the same model. One learning curve instead of two. My phone is older than his, I think it’s 10 years old. No trade in value? Shocking.

Troof sushal was already a ghost town, it’s app store numbers are paid for bullshit, so this was even worse news for Clownstick.
