So yeah, Trump buried Ivana at his golf course in Bedminster. Because he’s the administrator of the estate? Nope, that’d be his children or administrators of her estate.
She intended that she would be buried at a golf course? I wonder about that.
Trump gains tax benefits from using a portion of his golf business as a cemetery. The state division of taxation will need to look at the tax benefits for this more closely - Trump is more than likely to try and claim tax breaks on all of the land of his golf business, when it’s likely only to apply to the parcel where the cemetery is located.
It’s always an angle and a grift. In death, he’s still using and abusing Ivana.

Trump’s Plans For Bedminster Mausoleum Were Rejected
“Donald Trump’s plans to build a grandiose family mausoleum with 19-foot stone obelisks on the grounds of his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, were shot down in 2007 by local officials who found the design garish and out of character with the area,” the HuffPost reports.“Now there’s a single grave on the course — for Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of the former president and mother of his three oldest children. Following her July 20 funeral, she was buried not far from the clubhouse and behind the first tee in a bare plot with a spray of flowers and small granite plaque.” politicalwire.com

The judge is basically preserving issues for the inevitable appeal. If she’s as lenient as possible with the defense, when the jury eventually throws the book at Jones, the attorneys won’t have a leg to stand on when they try to get the damages reduced on appeal.

I actually think something like Trump’s grandiose mausoleum plan would be appropriate. His place of burial could be a national shrine of thanksgiving and deliverance, where Americans could offer thanks that the SoB is finally dead. Instead of a headstone, his grave would be capped by a golden toilet. An altar for sacrificing billionaires and conspira-liars would be a nice addition.

Car rental companies shed their fleets during covid, because no one was traveling, and they haven’t gotten their fleet size back to pre-pandemic levels because they’re dealing with supply chain issues, and they can get higher margins because of higher demand and tight supply. Doesn’t mean you can’t try and get a better deal out of it because they offered the vehicle, and you should be able to get either a better rate or a better vehicle for the same vehicle.

A fast-moving blaze in northern California has killed two people and forced thousands to evacuate, as it spread to become the state’s largest wildfire of the year.
The McKinney Fire has already engulfed over 80 square miles since it started Friday in the Klamath National Forest in Siskiyou County.
The two bodies were found Monday in a burnt-out car parked in a residential driveway west of the community of Klamath River. Local authorities have not released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families.
Photos from the scene show utter devastation, with burnt vehicles and animal carcasses littering the landscape.
Heavy smoke in the area complicated efforts to control the blaze with firefighting aircraft Monday.

I got that sort of thing once when renting a moving van. Booked a specific size since I know what I had to move and that a larger van would not fit in the alley by the apartment building. I show up and they don’t have one in the size I booked for at that location - and they basically say you can have a larger one or a smaller one.
I don’t have many options since I only have one person to help me, it’s Saturday, and I have to be moved out by Monday night.
So I take the smaller one and have a pretty ugly move. No ramp on the smaller van, tough fit for the larger furniture pieces*, and I will need two trip or otherwise abandon some stuff as well.** The two of us get one trip in and are pretty much wiped out at that point. So I return the van and swear to never rent a van from that company again.***
* - And I was not moving a mattress and box spring since I was replacing those.
** - Luckily someone who I play cribbage with offered to use his large van and help move the remaining stuff that Monday. So I did get everything out.
*** - And for my next move I paid someone to move my stuff. Especially since I was moving 300 miles west instead of 12 miles west.

Back when I was younger and actually occasionally helped others, I learned pretty quickly that helping someone move a mile was a lot more work than helping someone move out of state. Those moving a mile or so would just borrow a pickup so there’d be a dozen trips, they’d be unorganized and not really pack the small things, and they’d try to keep the big things together (not take the legs off a table sort of thing). My sort move was a lot of trips back and forth with Subaru loads of boxes, etc. since I overlapped my leases by close to a month. So the moving van rental was primarily to move the large objects that would not fit into the back of a Forester.

And I am like WTF are you even talking about?
And he’s like, well, they have a family compound!
(The Kennedys do not operate a golf course where their family tomb is also located. The Kennedy brothers (Joe Jr. JFK & RFK) are all buried at Arlington, because they were patriots who served in the Armed Services. The other Kennedys are buried at their parish church cemetery, not at their family compound. So there is no BOFSIDES going on here.)

Oh and on a completely different note…has anyone considered that maybe Ivana is not buried there at all and it’s just a mound of dirt and a temporary headstone? I heard she was cremated. Or is it possible that only some of Ivana’s ashes are buried there and the rest of Ivana is going to be buried in the mother country (old Czechoslovakia)?
I personally can’t imagine that if my husband was as much of a creep as TFG that I’d even want to be involved with him, even in death. *shudder*

I feel like these stories should all name Sam Alito.

Alito is an outsized part of the problem because he is a Supreme Court justice and wields power far beyond most ordinary pro-lifers, and is now openly wielding said power in ways the Founders never intended, and gives zero fucks about it.

Last week, a group of more than 400 female-identifying TV creators, writers, and showrunners signed a letter demanding Hollywood studio executives craft clear safety policies in their companies for pregnant workers in anti-abortion states. Now, in a new letter obtained by Variety, 594 male TV creators and showrunners have shown their support for the abortion safety policies via signatures sent to the same companies. In their letter, the text included just a few lines of text stating: “We, the undersigned, stand in solidarity with our female, trans & non-binary showrunner colleagues in demanding a coordinated and timely response from our employers regarding the imminent workplace-safety crisis created by the overturning of Roe v. Wade.”
Below that, the letter added, “Abortion access doesn’t only affect people who can become pregnant. It affects us all.”

“A former state lawmaker who six weeks ago apologized to a federal judge for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack is now writing a book for a right-wing publisher claiming he has been mistreated,” the Washington Post reports.
“Derrick Evans, who was sentenced in June to three months in prison after pleading guilty to felony civil disorder, said in a statement that he had been ‘slandered’ and wanted ‘to share my story with the world.’”
At his sentencing, Evans told the judge he felt daily regret for getting “caught up in a moment which led to me breaking the law.”
I have officially had it up to my back teeth with all of this pearl clutching over the DNC supporting Republicans wackos in primaries in order to increase their odds of winning the general.
Pete Meijer deserves credit for being in the tiny minority of elected Republicans who put their country ahead of their Führer in the aftermath of January 6.
Having said that, this brings to mind the famous Chris Rock routine about men who brag about taking care of their kids. That is literally what you are supposed to do!
For me, disrespecting Pete Meijer is an unfortunate requirement of doing everything thing we possibly can to ensure that Trump is not running the United State House of Representatives by proxy 5 months from now. I would personally disrespect a number of people I hold in significantly higher regard to achieve this aim.

As far as I can determine, Whitman was the last mass shooter to use primarily a manual action firearm, perhaps the only one in modern times. He had several guns with him, including a semi-automatic M-1 carbine, but most of the casualties were inflicted with a Remington 700 6mm bolt action hunting rifle.

Fewer than 1,000 people were concurrently watching the Facebook Live feed for much of the first two rounds this weekend, while LIV Golf’s YouTube channel was at or above 60,000 viewers for much of Saturday’s second round. On the course, there were far fewer people. Event officials didn’t announce attendance, though most estimates suggested only a few thousand spectators. Tickets sold for $75 per day but could be had on the secondary market for $1 apiece (plus $5.05 in fees via StubHub).

The letters (or phone calls) are cheap to send out in the thousands. And they only have to hook a few fish in order to make a profit on doing it.
Would love to have the Post Office charging them full postage for this stuff, but charitable and non-profits also benefit from getting reduced postage for mass mailing.
