This morning, in Rockwall, it was 63. We hit 81, one shy of the record. Tomorrow morning, it will be around 36, with a high later of 50. This will last two days, and then we’ll be back in the 70s for one day and the 60s afterwards.

The forecast low tonight and high tomorrow are the same: 44 degrees F. Except then they say it’s 41 right now. Would it be cheating to revise the forecast?

I gave up on running tubeless tires. I never got the second bead to seat. Gas station pumps don’t have air tanks on them these days. So I put new tires on and fresh tubes in and added 8 oz of orange sealant to each. Hopefully I can get a ride in tomorrow.

Reading through the replies, some people just don’t seem to be getting the significance of the federal government finally codifying interracial and same-sex marriage.

Surely the people who would be affected by SCOTUS taking a hack saw to their marriage rights are paying attention. Although a bunch may have just figured, like so many did with Roe (and are doing about contraception), “Aw, nothing is going to change. We’re safe.”

Too bad the law will not protect marriages against this rogue SCOTUS, which can decide that marriage is a state issue and not a federal issue. There is no outrage that this court would not support. Roberts — if you want to know why the Court merits so little respect, look in the mirror.

re: #23 Hecuba’s daughter

If they decide that marriage is only a state issue, that will also require everyone to get married in every state they move to, would require recertification of wills every time someone moves, end SS benefits for spouses.

It would take a constitutional amendment to force states to perform interracial and gay marriages that SCOTUS couldn’t overturn, but it does codify those marriages as federal contracts where federal law does apply.

Not only the market cap, but a ridiculous amount of cash. Apple has around 50 billion in cash and cash equivalents, and is making so much more that they have a hard time figuring out what to do with it. Apple’s earbud business is likely more profitable than all of Elon’s businesses combined.

Long thread from Nebraska state senator Adam Morfeld (D) on the critical role legislative assistants play in the Unicameral. I assume there are similar problems in other states, especially those run by Republicans. There’s even less reason for it here, since the state is in the black and is not a so-called taker red state.

In other good news, the European Commission has apparently had enough of Viktor Orbán’s bullshit.

The European Commission (EC) proposed on Wednesday to block the payment of 7.5 billion euros to Hungary from the structural funds of the European Union due to persistent shortcomings in the fight against corruption and in the control of public contracts.

Source, in Czech: novinky.cz

Everyone reckons that Orbán would quickly squander that 7.5 billion on corrupt projects for his cronies.

18 °F (-7.8 C) here currently, but that belies the strong wind gusts over 20 mph that are driving the wind chill below 0 °F. I am annoyed with the city this morning; the snow stopped well before 4:00 yesterday afternoon, but the snowplows ran twice: Once at around 2:00 PM in the afternoon, and once at 4:00 AM this morning… leaving me to clean up their mess, not once, but TWICE. Via ANSA (the Italian News Agency, in Italian, lede translated to English, November 28, 2022)

The pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need reports that two priests serving in the city of Berdyansk, in south-eastern Ukraine, occupied by Russia since February 2022, were arrested. The Redemptorist Fathers, detained by Russian militias, provided pastoral assistance to Greek-Catholic and Latin-rite Catholic parishes and are among the few remaining in the occupied territories. According to Msgr. Stepan Meniok, bishop of the Exarchate of Donetsk, the detention is “unfounded and illegal”.

Father Ivan Levitskyi, parish priest of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in the city of Berdyansk, and Father Bohdan Heleta, chaplain of the same church, were reportedly imprisoned in a pre-trial detention center in Berdyansk by the Russian administration on charges of “preparing an act of terrorism”. The press release denounces that the accusation of possession of weapons and explosives by the priests “is false” and adds that it was “a maneuver organized for propaganda purposes”.

Because of the way our storm drains are shaped, that is rather difficult here. It’s not that I don’t understand the city leaving deposits in the driveways, it’s the frustration of having to deal with it more than once. if they’d run the plows at, say, 4:00 yesterday afternoon, and been done with it, I wouldn’t have had a problem.

In Orbán-related news….

Hungary is performing worse in terms of inflation than the war-torn country of Ukraine. The economic crisis affects life so much in the country that it is almost impossible to save money anymore. Although Hungarians buy less and still have to spend more, this is true for the whole continent. Despite the terrible situation on the whole continent, Hungary still stands out with its 25 percent inflation rate.

According to the newest analysis of Nielsen IQ, Hungary had a 25 percent inflation rate in the third quarter of the year, reports Euronews. The data from Eurostat shows that food prices have risen by 45 percent in the past year. Other than countries with hyperinflation like Turkey or Kazakhstan, Hungary’s performance is the worst in Europe. Even in the war-torn country of Ukraine, the situation is still better, at least in terms of inflation.

To put it simply, people want to live in comfort and safety. That’s fine. The problem is, white people see ANY EXISTENCE of “others” living in comfort and safety as a threat to their own comfort and safety. They just cannot be happy unless they have someone to look down upon and be like, “Haha, I’m doing better than you.” Because that’s their definition of “comfort and safety”: Continuing to exist at the top of society, as they have done for hundreds of years.

It’s “not about politics” because their views are political poison, even in the dirt-burgs of rural America. Every year, fewer and fewer youts stick around after graduation to work at the family store or join the crew at the farm. And the ones who are staying are buying computers and tablets and hooking them up to broadband internet so they have access to a world bigger than the boundaries of the small world their parents grew up in.

The days of rural isolation where you live and die never venturing more than a few miles outside the limits of your birthplace are going away, only this time there was no war that drug millions of farmers sons off to mingle with city boys who gave them ideas about a life outside of livestock and general stores.

The typical “Rural Americans fear change and progress” article that’s supposed to make you feel bad that the whole country isn’t the Norman Rockwell fantasy that the Beltway Press likes to pretend exists outside of the “corrupt, evil, crime-blighted” cities that they insist upon living in.

When our wingnuts in the Unicameral were on the “Democrats want to defund the police” nonsense and tried to pass a bill to (somehow) make that illegal, state senator Megan Hunt brought in the statistics showing 90% of Nebraska’s cities and villages have no police whatsoever, never did, and somehow there isn’t a hellscape of crime roaring across the High Plains. (My village is unusual in we actually have a “police force,” the town marshal. Only one town in my county has a formal police force. In the whole Panhandle, the only police aside from county sheriffs are in Scottsbluff, Gering, Sidney, Alliance, Chadron, Bayard, and Broadwater.)

The bill went down in flaming defeat, with most of the Republicans voting against it.

re: #84 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

and of course, the very existence of gays in our society is seen by some as an affront unto the Lord, a threat to marriage and family, and a harbinger of the collapse of civilization

Which was a very convenient other to start in on in the early 80s as it finally started to sink in that the Civil Rights Era had made it much harder to obviously rail on blacks* and interracial marriage as the threat overtly without drawing some negative media attention. So the rhetoric against them ramped up, even though it’d always been there since for a long time given the various sub-cultures. And I’m pretty sure the various churches (especially the Catholics) were already aware of their internal issues in this regard.

* - And the anti-black rhetoric did not go away. It went into the various dog whistles and code words that are still around.

There are still people who want Norman Rockwell even if they never really lived it outside of his Saturday Evening Post covers.

My mother recounted a story recently when she was busking at O’Hare Airport where a listener stated he was from a small town. She asked him how small and he said two hundred thousand.

He simply could not imagine small when she told him she was from a town with less than two hundred people.

[rest clipped]

Every year the Republicans here in the Unicameral decry the extremely high property tax rate in this state that drives youth out of the state. They will not admit it is their toxic policies rather than property taxes.

No doubt they are going to try again to ban abortion in the upcoming session next year, while again trying to claim it’s really property taxes that drives young people out.

I went to high school in the late 70s in a small industrial village with people of whom some had never been more than 50 miles from where they had been born. This morning hopping around on Discord I’ve been in text chats with people from three continents and about 8-10 different countries.

Same with me, though a smaller village than yours. The only people who ever travelled out-of-the-country was my mother and me.

In my own village now, when my wife and I returned from Poland and went to the town party the same week, people here were amazed at our “bravery”: Several people commented they could never have travelled to Poland like we did because they were afraid Islamic State was going to invade it.

Yep. Because once you see that the “other” is a person much like you with a lot of similar desires, characteristics, and motivations a lot of the nationalistic and religious exceptionalism is shown to be pretty much BS. And you can also see how many people put up those “But I have a black friend.” walls to try to allow both thought processes to exist at once in their heads.

Why should one be surprised by semi-fanatic resistance against interlopers in a foreign country when they’d expect to behave in a similar manner if someone else invaded/occupied the USA?

There are legal arguments to be made about app store models and exclusivity, to be honest. It’s a rather hotly contested legal area right now, as game companies such as Microsoft, Sony, Valve, and Epic Games are all running their own services with their own unique lock-ins. So far, it seems that courts have upheld the app store model, but there are valid arguments about the need to allow alternative app stores on individual platforms. It’s a big legal clown fiesta.

That’s the justice system. It’s based on where the crimes occurred, and the jury pool is from that community. Voir dire allows both sides to vet the jury pool and excuse those who they think are prejudicial to their case.

Rhodes was guilty as fuck, and the DOJ continues its streak of winning seditious conspiracy cases against 1/6 treasonweasels.

I only wish that they went up the chain from the Oath Keepers to Stone and then on to Trump, Meadows, and others in the White House, because that’s where all of this ultimately leads.

I saw some legal analysts on Twitter (I know, I know) who said that getting Trump on seditious conspiracy would be a dicey proposition at best. I think there’s a good argument to be made against whomever Rhodes was immediately collaborating with on 1/6 (Stone, maybe Meadows), though. It seems like it has to be the people who were directly involved in the actual on-the-ground communications and coordination of the plot, and I’ve yet to see direct evidence that Trump himself was in the trenches exchanging messages directly with the Oaf Keepers.

—==000==-

A term used by conservative internet users to favourably describe their own sociopolitical viewpoints; at its most basic level, it means to have been made aware of something obscure or forbidden.

It originates from 1999 film “The Matrix,” ironically written and directed by two transgender women, in a scene where the protagonist is offered a choice between a literal blue pill to “wake up…and believe whatever he wants to believe” and a red pill to “stay in Wonderland, …be shown deep the rabbit hole goes,” and join a rebellion against the simulated reality he lives in. The red pill itself is believed to have been been modeled after red Premarin-brand tablets, popular as estrogen-boosting medication for transgender women in the 1990s.

Has exactly the same denotation and exactly the opposite connotation as “woke.”

I think the main question at issue is if people are forced to go to a specific app store to get a certain vendor’s products. This is the core of Sony’s dispute of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard; the Call of Duty franchise has been an immensely popular (and thus financially profitable) one for the PlayStation platform, and Sony is (rightfully) worried that this acquisition will lead to Microsoft excluding them from getting access.

Even there, I’d argue that Sony is on shaky ground at best. The idea of “exclusivity,” of console makers barring certain game franchises from appearing on competitor systems, has been around for decades. If Sony is now worried that Microsoft is going to make CoD exclusive to the XBox going forward, they’re gonna have to explain to a judge why there is a literal stack of game franchises that you can only play on a Playstation.

Believe it or not, I actually favor the opposite approach. The vast majority of games these days are being made to play on most or all available platforms, and to enable you to play with friends who play on any console. While I agree that there is a considerable amount of precedent to the contrary, I feel that this precedent was incorrect, and that the correct path is to open things up more and to get rid of the exclusive model altogether. I might be influenced somewhat by the fact that I play many games across platforms with friends who use Xboxes, or my son, who plays some of them on our gaming PC downstairs. The main argument I see favoring vendor lock-in on app stores is related to ensuring that applications meet platform requirements, such as, for example, disallowing cheating software that could be introduced by allowing unrestricted third-party apps through a third-party app store.

Yes and no. Video game companies will spend time making “ports” of their games to play on different platforms, but that’s not the same as saying “They’re selling the same game on different consoles.” And this can become even more of a headache if you’re trying to get a game written from a previous generation console to work on the newest hardware and software. To put it in context of computers, it would be the same as trying to install the MacOS version of CoD on your home PC. They may be the “same” game, but there’s no way you’re ever going to be able to run that game unless you’ve got a dual-boot system that can run Windows alongside MacOS.

That was where Disney came out (after much public prodding) as opposed to DeathSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” bill, to which he and the FL GQP responded by accusing Disney of being supportive of “grooming” because they expected all companies in-state to either support their fascism or just keep quiet.

Bear in mind, Republicans are still concertedly trying to rebrand simple respect for sexual and gender diversity in society as “pedophilia,” and rebrand actual right-wing pedophiles as “victims of wokist defamation.”

Yep, respect is “paedophilia,” while acknowledging that a child is LGTBQ+ is “grooming” because the proper response to a child expressing either interest in members of the same sex or discomfort with their own gender is turning them over to their parents for “correction.”

re: #93 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷

My mother recounted a story recently when she was busking at O’Hare Airport where a listener stated he was from a small town. She asked him how small and he said two hundred thousand.

He simply could not imagine small when she told him she was from a town with less than two hundred people.

I can imagine it, but it still amazes me. I live in a planned community of probably about 1,500 plus people. There are three twelve story apartment complexes across the highway from me, so that’s maybe another 1000. There’s another complex a quarter mile from that with 200, 300 maybe? The whole town is 76,000 total.

And I can be in a city of 1.5 million people in 25 minutes.

I don’t know if I would have a hard time living in a tiny town of 200, but it would take some getting used to.

I only wish that they went up the chain from the Oath Keepers to Stone and then on to Trump, Meadows, and others in the White House, because that’s where all of this ultimately leads.

They still can. Maybe that’s why Rhodes and Meggs don’t yet have a sentencing date…

But in the context of the movie, as a metaphor for the “code” that can strip away the indoctrinated illusion of the “inevitable” world and reveal your true self, the relationship of that scene to the experience of a trans woman writing a screenplay and thinking about starting HRT is pretty obvious.

I also find it amusing that Viagra was approved by the FDA and first marketed for sale just as filming on The Matrix was beginning. I suspect the “other pill” in the script was already blue by then, but it’s a heck of a coincidence.

What I find hilarious is they keep referring to Apple’s control of its own App Store as a “monopoly” and suggesting that the FTC should launch an investigation into such. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here browsing through the Play Store on my Galaxy S22 to check and see if any of my apps need updating.

That’s why it’s never going to fly. If Apple were a monopoly, then Musk would have a solid case. But Apple doesn’t even own 50% of the market (counting units, not profits).

Hey “Christians”: No one is telling you you can’t say homosexuality is a sin. They’re just saying the state can’t discriminate against them. If that goes against your religion, maybe you need to rethink your religion.

They don’t have to see them as married in the eyes of God, they just have to accept that they are married in the eyes of the Law and grant them the same rights as any other couples who hold a marriage license

But you see, even that is going too far for a lot of serious Fundamentalists and Dominionists: we owe our status as God’s Chosen People to the fact that we shape our laws and society according to (their interpretation of) God’s Divine Will.

And allowing such an abdomination unto his eyes as gay marriage or adoption is just tempting God to re-evaluate our status in (he has been eyeing Russia for a while now lately) and just asking him to dump a mighty fistful of Righteous Smiting down on us for good measure.

Most games that take their PvP scene seriously (or co-op PvE) seem to have figured it out. Now voice comms, that’s an entirely different story, but Discord is looking to break that barrier here soon. Xbox already has the ability to join a Discord voice call seamlessly; PlayStation expects to get that capability in March 2023, due to a firmware limitation that Sony is currently working on.

The comedy portion of this being that when Twitter was owned by Jack and then by shareholders, the same crowd pointed to competing apps either being barred from listing or removed after major controversy as “proof” that Apple was running a “monopoly.” Now that Twitter has become the hive of scum and villainy, suddenly the rumor that Apple may remove it is a “monopoly.”

This is true, but not the point I was trying (and obviously failing) to make. I meant running two different instances, for example, CoD on different systems. The protocols that the console or PC use to communicate with the server, or even a hosted game, are different. I play a lot of Overwatch. I’ve played cross-platform with friends on Xbox, and mixed between PS4 and PS5. They run a dedicated “all-console pool” of servers that seem to be able to communicate with both, and my latency is not noticeably different than when playing with only PlayStation players and ostensibly playing in the PlayStation-only pool. What difference it makes at the lower level, I don’t know, but I’d presume the high-level communication protocol that the games use to communicate is the same; the difference is probably in how the code is written to accommodate different hardware architecture and software development libraries.

Yeah. The major cross-platform games such as Destiny, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Borderlands, they all have figured out how to unify their netcode (as much as is physically possible, anyway) to be able to run shared servers for cross-platform play. Voice communications are very poor quality when run in-game, but we make it work for now, until Discord can come through next year.

As for PvP games, I’ve never been a big PvPer, myself. I play a lot of Destiny, but very very rarely participate in PvP. Overwatch is really the only PvP game I play, and yes, there is still a lot of toxicity, but I mostly just turn off chat and focus on playing my game and enjoying playing with friends. It helps that I’m actually halfway decent at it, and I know that, so even if I am being flamed, I can brush it off, since I am rarely the problem (though I do have bad games).

Herschel Walker’s residency should not be determined by where he lives, but rather by where he has fathered the most children.

I do miss my Destiny clan - I was playing Destiny I, before Bungie implemented a clan system, when I met a bunch of people through a third-party app that connected people looking for raids and missions. That became the core. It also started to collect toxic people. We had been very strict about keeping our clan…pleasant. After that influx of people who were less agreeable, I started PvPing seriously. Got fairly decent. But don’t gave those twitch reflexes that you need to be really good.

I have no hard data to support my observations, but for me it seems like a much different gaming experience in COD multiple player modes for cross-platform lobbies vs. Xbox only lobbies. In cross-platform lobbies, I am getting waxed. I feel like a noob playing pro-players. In Xbox only lobbies I am actually having fun, racking up killstreaks, and getting solid K/Ds. Again, just my observation.

We were talking upthread about Orbán decay:

EU Commission calls for freeze on €13bn funding for Hungary

“Hungary’s leaders have been repeatedly accused of democratic backsliding and “state capture” since Mr Orban’s Fidesz party returned to power in 2010.

Under a new 2011 constitution, the electoral system was altered to cement the party’s power, and the Constitutional Court was transformed into a largely tame and ineffective body. …

The €4-5bn received by Hungary each year from the European Union often found its way to business circles close to the governing party, including relatives of the prime minister…”

It depends on where you want to divide it. There are multiple phone companies, and three major OS’s for phones, IOS, Android, and Windows. But, inside a particular phone, you are limited to where you can get apps.
.

I am not sure you could call windows a major OS for phones. Are there even any windows phones currently being made?

The problem with Apple is you can only install apps from the Apple store. They call this a feature not a problem. With android you can grab an APK file from anywhere and after accepting the risk can install whatever the hell you want.

With iOS, unless you have paid a ridiculous amount for a developer license, you can’t even create your own app and run it on your own phone much less sell it anywhere else.

West is also required to pay his ex-wife $200,000 a month in child support, as well as any educational and security expenses the children might accrue in the future. The money is required to be deposited in Kardashian’s account on the first day of each month.

The pair’s assets, of central concern as the trial loomed, will be divided according to their prenuptial agreement. Kardashian, who will revert to her maiden name, will be given ownership of the family’s primary residence in Hidden Hills, California, and another property at a ritzy celebrity-favorite golf club in Idaho, according to the court documents—as well as a five-bedroom property West bought next door to his ex-wife’s home in an apparent bid to be closer to the children following the pair’s split.

Kardashian is expected to tear the building down, according to The Daily Mail—which reported that the property had fallen into disrepair and is in need of multiple renovations.

More disturbingly, however, a number of prominent left-wing activist accounts have been suspended without explanation—but the reasons for the bans are more than apparent in Musk’s own exchanges with pseudo-journalist Andy Ngo, who essentially identified all of the accounts that were eventually suspended by name, as Robert Mackey and Micah Lee report at The Intercept:

Los Angeles activist Chad Loder, a cyber-security expert who identifies as an antifascist researcher, one whose work has led to the arrest of at least one of the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrectionists. At the time their account was suspended, Loder had been reporting on a data breach in Europe affecting millions of users that Twitter had been covering up.

Video journalist Vishal Pratap Singh, a member of the Daily Kos community who has reported on far-right protests in Southern California at his VPS Reports channel. Singh, who survived violent attacks by far-right anti-vaccine protesters in 2021, was described as “Antifa” and falsely accused by Ngo of “calling for deadly violence again”—as he has done previously.

The Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club, an antifascist group that made headlines recently by providing armed security for an LGBTQ+ event in North Texas, one that had been threatened by Proud Boys and self-described “Christian fascists.” The group’s alternative account, however, remains active.

CrimethInc, an anarchist collective that publishes “news, analysis, books, journals, posters, videos, podcasts, and a wide range of other resources — all copyright free,” as its website says. Its Twitter account has never in 14 years on the site violated Twitter policies and has never been suspended. Ngo, however, urged Musk to suspend its account by lying: he falsely labeled Crimethinc an “Antifa collective,” saying the group had “claimed a number of attacks” (it has not). The account was suspended only hours later.

Nico Kenn De Balinthazy, better known as “Sneako,” said on Monday night that he’s taking a hiatus from live-streaming to focus on his new role with the antisemitic rapper.

“I met Ye, and then I ended up working with Ye,” the provocative YouTuber said while calling West his “childhood hero.”

The controversial streamer added he’s been working for West behind the scenes and producing videos for the rapper’s Twitter page. “I feel like this is the last opportunity America has,” De Balinthazy continued, indirectly speaking to West’s presidential candidacy.

This study confirms what we’ve been seeing all along - GOPers are dying to pwn the libs.

The excess death rate among GOPers is 10 points higher than Democrats - attributed to covid.

When the researchers looked at excess deaths before and after the pandemic, the results were sobering. Tragically, but not surprisingly, both Republicans and Democrats experienced a sudden uptick in mortality during the first year of the pandemic. While excess death rates were slightly higher among Republicans than Democrats, “both are dying at really high rates over this period,” Goldsmith-Pinkham says.

The fates of Republicans and Democrats began to diverge markedly after the introduction of vaccines in April of 2021. Between March 2020 and March 2021, excess death rates for Republicans were 1.6 percentage points higher than for Democrats. After April 2021, the gap widened to 10.6 percentage points.

Dumbassery, Trump, and GOP know nothings are to blame for GOPers decimating their own.

ARDERN: My first question is I wonder whether or not anyone every asked Barack Obama and John Key if they met because they were of a similar age? We of course have a higher proportion of men in politics, it’s reality. Because two women meet, it’s not simply because of their gender.

“This just proves that Covid was a Democrat hoax, er, I mean plot!!!”

contrast your comment with

do you see walker sitting on the phone for hours doing fundraising calls?
i dont.
meeting with constituents?
reading a bill?
he’d be a completely managed puppet, starting with who picks the ‘staff’ to manage him.

It’s not the candidate who is overwhelming my emails and texts with these pleas; it’s people working on their behalf. That said, pre-midterms I received phone calls from a few candidates pleading for support — but since I seldom answer the phone from numbers I don’t know, the calls go to VM.

It worked in Alabama with Tommy Tuberville.

Not unusual but when solving gets down to purely guessing, the difficulty becomes inversely proportional to the remaining number of words that match the pattern.

That’s why I never use “hard” mode and am always “burning” words to eliminate possibilities.

The only reason Walker was named in the first place is that Trump knew who he was from when Walker was on the USFL Generals - Trump’s team.

That’s it. That’s the qualifications Trump sought. Someone who’d do what Trump wanted.

The new Congress will again see Democrats with a huge caucus of persons of color.

GOPers have enough to fit on one hand - still among the smallest percentage in their caucus in 100+ years. Why? Because the GOP is an overtly white nationalist misogynistic party, and the share of women in the GOP in Congress is also at a low point (though may have dead cat bounced here in 2022).

The GOP is and remains an old white guy party intent on preserving power in rich white guys and burden shifting to everyone else by blaming nonwhites for all that ails America.

Probably better, because undoubtedly there are a fair number of Georgia racists who wouldn’t vote for either Black man. But they felt they had to slip a Black man in somewhere, and Georgia seemed like their best bet, and Trump said he was okay with that one.

This is how my Amazon Fresh order arrived. No insulated inner-bag, and the outer bag not only isn’t taped, but it’s also shredded. I’m just glad that I can get a refund on the destroyed items and zero out the tip when this happens.

Some people at work thinking me traveling to Tokyo by myself on vacation is somehow daring. I tell them I’ve been there twice already, I have a feel for the place, I did my reasearch before going by myself, I was prepared, and Japan generally is quite safe.

TBH because I lack a similar familiarity with Poland, I doubt I’d go by myself the first time. But I think that’s the situation for most places I’ve gone to.

Another things about this is that this person is confusing his use of Twitter with the general population. Most people don’t use it. Out of the 7 people I know of how they use their cell phones, I use Twitter frequently, and one other uses it occasionally. That’s it. The amount of people that would react to twitter not being available will be small.

I tried Amazon Fresh 3 times and each time they did not deliver what I ordered but they loaded up the bag with items I did not order.

The first two times I got a complete credit for the order but the third time they balked so I canceled them. They’re absolutely incompetent when it comes to groceries.

re: #305 Joe Bacon

My guess is that they’re so damned overwhelmed with orders that they can’t keep people on staff and turnover means that they’re constantly training people and failing to do a good job. Rushing to get orders out the door means ripped bags and damaged goods.

If they paid better and didn’t treat workers like robots, they might get better performance and customers might get a better experience.

Every time I hear a yutz like Cawthorn (or Tucker, or Sorbo, or Crowder, or any of Jordan Peterson’s flying monkeys) hold forth on the Wussification of Our Menfolk, it just makes me think of those “Missing the Point by Idolizing Them Starter Pack” memes.

You know — the ones with collages of Tyler Durden, the Joker, Khan, Gordon Gekko, the guy from American Psycho, Cartman, Walter White, The Punisher, Rorschach…

Haven’t seen one yet that included Archie Bunker, more’s the pity.

They’re usually reliable here, but sometimes a bag will be missing or there will be an extra bag. I’d say that they’re at about 90%. If I’d had your experience, I would have ditched them.
