More About “The Night Nurse”:
The Night Nurse is a short narrative horror film, following one terrifying Christmas Eve in the life of a wheelchair-bound nursing home resident. This is Tallulah’s first holiday in this uncomfortable new space, and she feels lonely and abandoned; all she wants is a sign the outside world - especially her daughter - has not forgotten her, but none comes. That night, deeply alone, she falls asleep…

And wakes to a blood-curdling scream. Wheeling down the darkened corridors to investigate, she discovers a horrifying sight: the mysterious new Night Nurse latched to the neck of another old woman, sucking gleefully from her lifeblood.

So begins a terrifying ride for Tallulah, trapped inside her nursing home and the fragile vessel of her aging body. With no one to listen to her, with no one who cares, she makes a desperate last stand against the seductive vampiric killer that has come to claim what little life she has left - only for the Night Nurse to make her an offer, a promise of a soft, safe release into the oblivion of death.

With the dark truth of her lonely, debilitated existence impossible to ignore, Tallulah faces a choice: give in to the Night Nurse’s alluring promise, or choose to endure all the remaining hardships life has to offer. But will Tallulah decide her life is worth keeping, when at every turn the world signals its indifference?

I try to post only the best short horror films, and maybe 70% of the stuff on YouTube is sort of amateurish. This one is in the top 10%. An inventive plot, great acting, and excellent production values.

Christmas ham in the oven, dinner with Mom tonight at 8 p.m. MST. The usual, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, pumpkin pie a la mode.

Skiing was very fun today, Beaver Creek got a foot of new snow. They opened the lower part of the Men’s Downhill Course. Found some great powder over there as it’s tricky to ski to right now, I call that the gomer filter.

Turns out there never was an NYPD choir, so they never sang Galway Bay . In tribute to Shane Macgowan, an Irish immigration museum in Dublin has fixed that:

For the second time this year, a rare hissing mushroom was spotted in Texas at a state park in Hill Country.

Known as the Texas star mushroom, the fungus is highly selective about where it grows, according to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The mushroom tends to grow on decaying cedar elm stumps in North and Central Texas.

The fungus typically appears in late fall as a fuzzy, dark brown capsule 3 to 4 inches in length. After rain, the mushroom explodes open, unfurling into a tawny-colored star that makes an audible hissing noise while puffing smoke. That has earned it the nickname “devil’s cigar.”

Hand sanitizer is a workable substitute for Sterno fuel, and a good fire starter. If you don’t ventilate, you can make the morning news “Christmas Tragedy” article.

Creepy. I will never put Z into a nursing home! I will take care of him as long as he is alive.

We have to move to someplace where our kids are. (Florida, Brooklyn, Wilkes-Barre or Jerusalem)

The common puffball is known in German as “wolf’s fart” because once it matures if disturbed it puffs out spores from what looks like a pile of dung.

I’m not in the mood for a Christmas feast, so I’m borrowing Chinese food appreciation day from my Jewish and Asian neighbors. Picked up fried rice and pot stickers already, which keep and reheat well, so I don’t have to go to a Chinese restaurant — they’re always packed.

So VB can have my mac and cheese appreciation celebration, and I’ll cover the Chinese food.

Memories of Christmas Dinner when I was a kid. Mom would buy a couple cans of Chun King Crispy Noodles and 2 cans of Chun King Chow Mein, one chicken and one shrimp or beef heat them up and it was Chinese Food for dinner…years later I find out that the man who created Chun King was…Jeno of Pizza Roll fame…😲

Federal records show that, by the time of the Iowa caucuses, the DeSantis campaign is on pace to spend significantly more on private jets — the governor’s preferred mode of travel — than on airing television ads

And they were wondering this AM what his campaign could have done different(ly)

My brother in Germany called me.

He was working on a project being built in the Netherlands, along with six other translators, who have 4 different native languages. They had a meeting with the project director, who started with, ‘OK, do we have to do this in English?’ One translator said (in some language) ‘Anything but that’. So the director said, ‘We’ll do it in Dutch. If somebody doesn’t understand something, raise your hand.’ Bro said he was surprised that he understood everything. Then he found he can read Dutch. It’s the first language that he’s never taken a class in that he can read.
