Great New Prog Rock From the Pineapple Thief: “Every Trace of Us”

Music • Views: 10,172

Bruce Soord: “The idea for this song came out of writing sessions I had with Gavin at his studio. Gavin played me this idea he had come up with and I immediately connected with it, straight away humming what would become the verse. I went into another room with my guitar to try out some chorus ideas while Gavin was in his studio playing out the middle section. It was one of those moments where everything came together so quickly. A lot of the guitar remains from that session, including all the lead riffs. Jon (bass) came up with the hooky chorus bass melody, Beren Matthews, our touring guitarist, added some brilliant guitar work, before Steve (keyboards) added his sonic icing on the cake. The words came later.”

‘Every Trace Of Us’, the second single from our forthcoming album ‘It Leads To This’.

A.R Moxon with a long thread and post on Rufo, it’s worth the time spent reading. He nails it by pointing out that for supremacists Identity is the one ring to rule them all, and all other principles are malleable but also somehow still fungible.

That’s why in Europe you have tribal supremacists who are nominally socialist while others are nominally capitalist who sometimes demonstrate and meet together. All political principles, all causes get consumed by Supremacism in the end because that is what truly motivates them.

. . . After all, in psychiatry, there were always more drugs and drug combinations to try. More behavioral interventions and therapeutic modalities to employ. More clinicians who believed that they alone had the special therapeutic touch. It seemed to Yager that despite what every honest psychiatrist should know, psychiatrists were never really allowed to acknowledge futility — and so never allowed to stop treating. In turn, their patients were never “allowed” to say no. Never allowed to decline care. Certainly never allowed to die.

[. . .]

But maybe there was another explanation. Maybe this was just the logic of a profession that saw death as the absolute worst outcome, regardless of what living might look like. . .

Then how will you get them back to the coal tipple?

11
Decatur Deb  Jan 7, 2024 • 11:16:48am

A tipple boy was a worker who worked in the tipple, a structure used at a mine to load coal for transport, typically into railroad hopper cars. Since tipple workers in Hine’s photos were wearing headlamps, it is likely that they often traveled down into the mine.Apr 12, 2018

This is why we need to bring back Ike’s 90% Marginal Tax Rate on the rich.

Billionaire Bill Ackman Flip-Flops on Plagiarism After Wife Gets Caught

Ackman also complained on Sunday morning that Business Insider broke “the code of the road” by going after his family.

Awwwww That parasite’s fee-fees are hurt because the press actually did its’ job!

thedailybeast.com

Bill Ackman has toned down his vitriol toward former Harvard President Claudine Gay’s alleged plagiarism after Business Insider reported on Friday that his wife, Neri Oxman, copied portions of Wikipedia articles and scholarly documents in her doctoral dissertation at MIT. In a long-winded, 5,139-word post on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday night, Ackman wrote that it is “a near certainty that authors will miss some quotation marks and fail to properly cite or provide attribution for another author on at least a modest percentage of the pages of their papers.”

“Some plagiarism is due to the laziness of the author. Laziness is not a great excuse for a member of the faculty, but it does not seem like a crime to me,” he later said.

Although Oxman admitted fault on Thursday prior to the Business Insider article’s publication and has since apologized, Ackman has gone to war against MIT, saying a couple hours later on Saturday evening that he had “new information that strongly suggests that the Business Insider source(s) is at MIT.” He also called back to previous information he shared accusing Mark Gorenberg, the chair of the MIT Corporation, which is the board of trustees at the university, of committing tax fraud by using donor money to fund his wife’s charity.

The billionaire hedge fund manager also complained on Sunday morning that Business Insider broke “the code of the road” by going after his family and called the news website’s executive editor John Cook an anti-Zionist who targeted his wife for being Israeli.

A representative for Ackman turned down questions from Business Insider regarding his Saturday evening remarks.

Say Kids!

Let’s take a peep at the latest Michigan GOP Follies, shall we?????

Michigan GOP Head Refuses to Leave After Vote for Her Ouster

OH NO! WILL SHE SUMMON A MOB LIKE HER IDOL DID?????

She described the push to remove her as an “illegal” plot hatched up by “rogue” members of the state Republican Party.

The chair of the Michigan Republican Party was voted out Saturday by Republicans who accused her of fueling dysfunction within the party—but she claims the vote was “illegitimate” and refuses to acknowledge her ouster.

On the eve of the vote, Kristina Karamo, who gained GOP stardom by denying that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, repeatedly described the push to remove her as an “illegal” plot hatched up by “rogue” members of the state Republican Party.

In a podcast promoted by the party on Friday, she called the announcement of the impending vote a “false narrative to promote illegal actions by some rogue and disgruntled individuals within the party.”

“They will destroy what they can’t control,” she complained, adding that her foes within the party “don’t have the votes to remove me.”

By Saturday afternoon, however, members of the party claimed they’d had more than enough votes to boot Karamo from the party’s highest position.

“With over 88% of the members that were present and voting, we have taken the first step to engage and protect the various voices and liberties of all Republicans… we have voted to remove Kristina Karamo as the Chair of the Michigan Republican Party,” Bree Moeggenberg, District 2 state committeewoman, announced in a statement on Facebook.

Moeggenberg said General Counsel Dan Hartman’s participation in the meeting guaranteed the vote was legitimate. Karamo, however, shrugged off the whole thing, telling the Detroit News: “It was an illegitimate meeting. Their performance has no legal standing. I am still chair of the Michigan Republican Party.”

The chaos surrounding the vote seems likely to tee up a legal battle over control of the state GOP ahead of Michigan’s presidential primary. As dozens of party members voted to remove her on Saturday, supporters gathered outside and likened the vote to an “insurrection” or “psyop,” according to the Detroit News.

Karamo’s critics, who’ve blamed her for party “chaos” and financial problems, cheered the vote but conceded that it’s probably the start of a larger court showdown. Supporters of Karamo have said an “official” party meeting that is actually “valid” is scheduled for Jan. 13.

My daughter is going to Colorado to visit her brothers and nieces next week. Today her and a few friends are at a small ski area outside Lehighton Pa to tune up on ice/rocks/slush and what appears to be snow.
Might be. It’s wet and cold. Slightly grey. Oh well….
If you learn to ski on Pennsy slopes, you can ski anywhere.
Doing night because cheaper.
First time I skied it was night on Camelback and 40 below wind chill and I did not die.
Beat up pretty good, but I was younger and stubborn. With my youngest son, who told me:
“You play hockey. You can do it. Come on! YEAH!”
It’s nice when skiers stop as you are laying on the slush and they give you thumbs up and tell you “You’re doing great! Keep it up!”
Yeah. Until there is a red stain down the run with you unresponsive at the bottom.

I wonder if the KooKoo Kaucus is going to call for Speaker Johnson’s head, now: for the Awful Heinous Sin of actually negotiating with the Minions of Satan Democrats? After all, appearing in public with Chuck Schumer?

If this report is accurate, the loonies are going to go ballistic - I know it’s just Internet CW, but the looming prospect of a shutdown was their last chance/hope of getting Congress to accede to their extortions (though what real budgetary or legislative demands they have/had beyond the performative buffoonery of their “border crisis” hysteria and insane “Biden crime” “investigations” escapes me).

That Schumer is fronting things for the Senate (and likely has his Brooklyn homie Hakeem well on board) seems to indicate that the Dems are solid, with the Administration as well: looks like Sleepy JoeDark Brandon has wrong-footed the GOPers yet again…

Some yes — such as the Peter Thiels of the world. But not all. Many are motivated more by the racism of The Turner Diaries.

Biden has a tremendous skill at working behind the scenes, empowering the good guys, working the bad guys and finding success without drawing all the attention to himself. Its like he is a professional politiciian ;-)

He is the perfect embodiment of why term limits can be a bad idea.

He was pissed about her remarks regarding Israelis and Palestinians, and used the plagiarism angle to help sink her. But this whole thing blowing back on his wife is chef’s kiss.

He should have stuck with the anti-Semitism angle and he would not be facing this blowback.

Term limits for the presidency are probably a good idea — the position has evolved into something so powerful that anything else would be a true danger for the survival of a democracy. At a lower level — mayors, governors, it’s not as much an issue. But for the person who commands the military and our nuclear arsenal — that is a very different story.

How about; three terms are OK, but no two can be consecutive?

I’d go for a slight variation — three terms, but only two can be consecutive. There are times when we need the 8-year stretch of consistency, as in now when it’s going to take more than four to stabilize what we can after the Trump damage.
