Today’s program from our podcasting affiliate, The Bob Cesca Show:

Aaron Rupar Returns — You might know Aaron from the videos he posts on his popular Twitter feed, or from his Substack newsletter called Public Notice — publicnotice.co — or from such podcasts as this one. In addition to keeping us laughing at Trump’s constant short-circuits and glitches, Aaron is also reminding voters what exactly it was like four years ago under Trump. So today, Aaron returns to the interview show to talk about the state of the campaign, and the state of political social media. Meantime, don’t forget to support this podcast by subscribing us at patreon.com/bobcescashow. Music by Marina Rocks.

Erin Burnett just reported that Speaker Johnson told her pro-Palestine student protesters have no free speech rights because Hamas agrees with them. That’s … an interesting interpretation of the First Amendment.

Chamber of Commerce sues to overturn noncompete ban. Can you guess where they did it?

Of course they are. And in Texas too.

What’s worse, they might actually do it, because this might not be a thing the FTC has jurisdiction over. By the way - whenever progressives complain that the Biden administration isn’t doing enough progressive things, point to this post right here. He’s fucking trying, folks. But it’s too easy to turn aside executive actions with a captive Court. There’s only so much the President and his administration can do, and it’s getting smaller all the time, thanks to a Calvinball Court that is determined to minimize the amount of good things we can have.

We’re going to see a continuing succession of horrific rulings from the right wing Supreme Court, unfortunately, for years to come.

Only way out of this nightmare situation would be to expand the court. But it would take 60 votes in the Senate, and Biden is opposed to it. So we’re apparently stuck with the far right setting the legal agenda of the country.

The good thing coming out of this—Boris Manchin and Natasha Sinema are gone from the Senate on 1/3/25. Hopefully We Hold Arizona along with all Blue seats and pick up Texas, Florida and hopefully Missouri. We just need 51 Senators to kill the goddamned filibuster once and for all. Then we can pack the court, impose the ethics rules on the Sleazy Six and force them to give up those prizes like Slappy T’s RV.

Bob and Aaron did not very well explain why they are still on twitter. It sounded like they were excusing themselves from blame, because Mastodon is too slow as a place to build a following (the least-bad sounding alternative). They acknowledged each other as a reason to go there, like it would be rude to leave.

I can only see who they are by what they do. Yes, it will be hard. Yes, there will be losses. It still needs to be done, they agree. And then they are surprised how ‘resilient’ it is. I was surprised that Trump got elected. I have whatever they are dealing with.

The *electoral* impact of Kent State was Nixon doubling down on white working class voters who hated the protesters, and winning huge. After construction workers fought with protesters in NYC (at one of the actions that followed Kent State) Nixon invited them to the White House.

NO FALLING

FOX 7 Austin captured on video troopers pinning a person to the ground and detaining them. Troopers are also using bikes and riot gear as barricades to push students back.

A FOX 7 Austin photographer was also arrested. After the protest line was moved back, the photographer fell, and was then detained and taken to jail.

I will note, because it’s an extremely interesting technical rabbit hole to go down, that it’s hypothetically possible to create a nuclear pumped laser. I also very much doubt that this is what the Russians are planning. If I had to guess I’d say they’ve packed a bomb with a bunch of sand and are creating a contingency plan that just shreds everything in orbit.

Dam on the Chippewa River at Eau Claire, Wi creating Dells Pond, originally to hold lumber, now used for recreation, flood control and for the Cascade paper mill (toilet paper) on the east side there, as seen from what we call the “high bridge”. It was a railroad bridge constructed in the 1880’s by the C&NW and given to Eau Claire in 2007 and converted into a foot bridge.

I’m guessing 5-4 with Roberts siding with the liberal wing or maybe even 6-3 with Roberts and Kegstand Kavanaugh joining the liberals. Kavanaugh has been sort of a weird justice, he has sided with the liberals on more than a few cases.

Another weird one is Gorsuch. Every time a case comes up when it comes to indigenous people and land disputes Gorsuch has sided with the indigenous people almost every time.
