Andrew Sullivan and Paul Krugman have been exploring the theme that this is the logical continuation of the Civil War, especially with the southern power base of the hard right GOP. If that is true….that this is “The Cold Civil War”, then the refusal to compromise with a northern black man becomes quite clear.
