I think it’ll get savaged because Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is gonna be a pretty damned hard act to follow.

What I always liked about the trilogy is that Nolan strived for realism, tried to make it seem as if his version of Batman could be a real person rather than a mythological being. The same approach was only of mild success with Man of Steel.

But this film? DC wants to lay the groundwork for its own multi-hero franchise, but it doesn’t want to take the risk of one or more films failing at the box office. Thing is, most folks don’t know that Marvel was actually gambling with Iron Man. They threw the Nick Fury cameo in after the credits as a sequel hook, with no guarantee there would even be a sequel.
