Mel Brooks wasn’t big on sequels. I would have loved to have seen a Blazing Saddles 2.

Blazing saddles came to such a perfect ending there simply could not be an effective sequel to it, the main villain was dead, the main conflict was thoroughly resolved and I can not think of anywhere for the story to go from where it ended (what are we gonna have Bart wind up needing to be the sherif of another bigoted town, or maybe a Chinese guy do it instead this time?)

Spaceballs on the other hand took place in a much bigger universe/setting and we know the three main villains all survived, there was “room” for a sequel there.
