I am constantly surprised at how many people can’t pronounce my name and think it ends in “ski”

My mother tells a story about when she was stationed at NAS Norfolk, and several people in her division in a row alphabetically had Polish names. When roll was called, it would be “ski” “ski” “ski” &c. They learned which “ski” they were to answer to muster.
