The British coal-fired generating fleet was mostly replaced by gas-fired power stations, cleaner and easier to switch on and off to meet fluctuating demand during the day and night cycle. IIRC we’ve got about 35GW of gas capacity today.

Are there any considerations for new Nuclear plants there?
