Collins must have an inkling that Trump ain’t getting re-elected and that if he takes the DNI job, he’s out of a job come January next year when there’s a new administration. Why go for that when he has at least a shot at a six-year job in the Senate?

And even if Trump is re-elected, nobody except Stephen Miller lasts very long in his Administration.
