re: #146 Brian J.

Why? The practical consequence is no prosecution, ever. Why would any of these guys care about looking guilty? Honesty is for suckers!

These suckers are businessman and one of the most important things a businessman can trade on his name. Being “Jared Kushner, Admitted Crook” can close a lot of doors.

The problems with this are that any honest FBI agents already know the people making the accusations wouldn’t give you the time of day without lying, and there might not be any honest FBI agents. And you’re making the same mistake as the Republicans did last year- the FBI doesn’t indict people.

The FBI doesn’t indict people, but testimony they take in can be used for things other than criminal charges, such as articles of impeachment. And the higher the pile of evidence becomes, the harder it becomes for the GOP to argue that there’s no need for a select committee or independent prosecutor. Flynn ratting out one or more of his fellow vermin in the White House might be the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. So the White House is going to try to get out ahead of that by saying Flynn’s the “real” crook, that his testimony is suspect, and that the FBI cut a sweetheart deal with him (likely for immunity) and so allowed the “real” crook to walk purely in the name of politics.
