Mad, I hadn’t read Buchanan’s 1992 speech in awhile.

What a fetid, hateful pile of shit.

It was emblematic of George H. W. Bush’s badly run 1992 reelection campaign that Buchanan was allowed a primetime speaking slot and moreover was allowed to deliver that speech. The elder Bush suffered badly from the death of Lee Atwater the consequent loss of his political abilities. Asshole though he sometimes was, Atwater would not have have let Buchanan deliver his voter-repellant speech.
