Physicians and nurse practitioners donโt get paid for talking to patients and trying to actually diagnose and treat a problem anymore. You only get paid for procedures. If you donโt do procedures, then you have to run people in and out of the office to just break even. Another problem is EMR (electronic medical records). It actually takes longer to do ERM than to dictate a note.
I actually make less and work longer hours than I did 20 years ago. Fortunately, I really like helping people. It makes it all worthwhile when someone tells me I made a difference in their life.
