It’s an interesting thing actually, whether Egyptians should consider themselves as “Arabs” or not are deeply contested in Egypt. As a general rule, Egyptians didn’t really consider themselves to be Arab until the ’30s, and didn’t push it until Nasser… and now it might be trending the other way again.

I spent the afternoon reading up on Irish history. It’s interesting to see how a little historical revisionism ans nationalist pride can lead to fascism.
