At the risk of spoiling the party, the “misinterpreted lyrics” thing is called a “mondegreen.”

I’ve never mentioned this here before, but for the past several years, I’ve written a weekly trivia quiz at a local pub in beautiful downtown Herndon, Virginia. One of our most popular “recurring” trivia sheets has been our Mondegreens sheet, which has sometimes been called “Mondegreens” and sometimes “Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza.” Here’s a few shining examples of Mondegreens that our customers really liked or really hated. I’ll let you guys decide which was which.
