I’ve dated a Thibodeau, and bummed around Italy with a Boudreau. There’s an entire Justin Wilson routine right there.

They probably had an “x” at the end of their names though.

I’ve heard various stories as to how that came about.

1. As they arrived from Acadia, as they left the boats, they were checked off a list as a family - and to make it obvious, the family name as pluralized by putting an “x” behind it (like we would use an “s” for “the Smiths”).

2. As they arrived and left the boats, the “x” was placed after the name to indicate they had gotten off the boat.

3. And, aw, hell - there’s one more and I can’t remember it right now.
