Fines levied on the poor for failing to appear in court seem to be a major source of municipal revenue in parts of St. Louis county.

Given that sad fact, it is beyond ludicrous for St. Louis authorities to spout drivel about ‘we don’t punish people for failing to appear in court’.

It’s possible that you and the DA spokesman define ‘people’ differently.
