I read that story, too; and it doesn’t sound like too many folks (at least not the ones the WaPo cited) were staying in the evacuation area out of “anti-science propaganda” : myself, I think they’re nuts: but their “reasoning” doesn’t sound much different from the usual stories one gets about almost every major storm event. There are always going to be a certain percentage of folks who won’t (or can’t) evacuate, for whatever reason: you can only hope that few-or-none of them end up as sodden bodies pulled out of drainage canals days after the rain stops…
