If you see labor as merely another commodity to be minimalized to reduce costs, then you can buy all these arguments against minimumwage, equal pay or collective bargaining.

But if a society places any social value on labor as part of human dignity and freedom: namely the ability to earn enough to support oneself and one’s family from a full-time job, then we need to have labor laws in place that recognize this view of labor.
