yeah, exactly - the magic balance fairy argument here is equating vandalism of normal political expression with vandalism of hate speech. i mean, it ought to be pretty clear when somebody is promoting hate

on the other hand, vandalism of a regular political poster, whether posted by a campaign or some manifesto, let’s say, posted by an individual, is also political speech, so, no, i would not call for punishment for defacing any political posters i might put up either - as a matter of fact, i would have to expect that somebody might very well object to what i had to say and want to express that, as i have experienced in real life when doing exactly this
