Update on MIL’s car - battery took a charge just fine after all. Let it idle in the driveway for 45 minutes while I wrote checks for her various closing bills in CT (We just moved her to California last month). Then I threw her the car keys and said, “Here, drive yourself to the post office.” I love her dearly but it’s nice having the house to myself for a half hour.

You might check the battery cables and connections. Mrs. Fish’s Fishmobile had an issue with randomly discharging completely during the winter; I discovered that the temporary cable end I had put on had corroded. Removing it and cleaning it thoroughly resolved the issue completely. I intend on replacing the whole cable with a factory unit once I’ve recovered enough to be able to get under the car.
