Bernie is what Bernie is.

This nomination cycle was all about making Clinton the nominee. The DNC took one from the playbook of the RNC here - nominate the next one in line.

If it were any other time I think this would be disastrous. But the GOP looks like they are quite capable of tearing themselves apart, so the Democrats may skate by this time.

But I worry about one thing - eventually there will be another recession. Probably in the next President’s first term. Even if Hillary wins (and she can beat Trump), the midterm election may see a reversal of fortunes and we’ll be right back to where we’ve been the last two years, with an obstructionist Republican Congress and a Democratic President seen as Satanic by a large share of Republicans.
