Why is it that everything’s a damned conspiracy to so many on the right? Is it some kind of mental illness? Conspiracies of being persecuted, twitter gulag, FEMA camps, creeping sharia…..I’ve never seen such lunacy being peddled in my 43 years on the planet.

It’s like a rather significant chunk of the American population has had some sort of psychotic episode, and they’re spewing their delusional rantings to anyone who’ll listen.

It’s that way to the Far Left, too. Many people on the far edges of the political spectrum are “Failed Historian” conspiracists. Such people use conspiracy theories to explain away the cognitive dissonance that results when the world refuses to produce the results demanded by their ideology.
