I never understand why employers don’t allow workers to go home early, collect their kids, etc—they live in the south and know it’s dangerous conditions when it snows. I never had a job in Charlotte that I wasn’t allowed off early (along with everyone who wanted to leave); they would just close the place down when we knew we were getting snow or an ice storm. And Charlotte never got snow that often, but when we did, we took it seriously.

They knew what was coming to the south. I probably would have called in sick. : )
