Basically his final tweet was that sort of swan song anybody who has spent time on political BBSs in the past will be familiar with: the passive aggressive nature of criticizing how “toxic” or “mean” the board has become, the insincere “apologies” for having taken part in it, and the empty “apologies” to those few friends they still have for why they’re being “forced” to leave.

Pretty sure several boards and sites (including Daily Kos, if I remember?) had a term for that: GBCW - Goodbye Cruel World. In other words, a blown up post in a vain attempt to grasp martyrdom for yourself.
