That’s certainly possible. Honestly, I think it’s in part because Catholics tend to have more immigrants in their congregations or an older generation that were the children and grandchildren of immigrants themselves. I don’t agree with the RCC hierachy on choice and SSM obviously but a lot of them have shown genuine compassion and empathy towards immigrants.
Catholics have long been liberal. Coming from a Catholic background and having gone to Catholic school from grade 1 through 12 I can say that with ease when compared to other religions. Sure there is dogma, but even that is treated in a liberal matter.
No comparison at all with any modern day fundamental religion.
