That Bernie love-fest you mention feels to me like elements of the press wanting to, AGAIN, put their thumbs on the scale against the Democrats.

I characterized it a good while back as the press propping him up for the same reason they did the same to Trump in the summer of ‘15: They don’t see him as a serious contender, they see him as a novelty act that can’t win the nomination and thus will never be a serious challenge in the election itself. So they prop him up for the entertainment value, figuring that having him lighting fires and causing chaos makes for good ratings.
