This will probably get me hammered but I think there’s a pretty decent sized chunk of American society that is just lazy. The more civilized we become, the easier life becomes and people forget what it’s like to struggle to just survive. Our will becomes weaker and weaker with each passing generation. I’m old enough to remember my grandparents talking about having to work as kids and now I know people in their mid-20’s who have never even had a job. A big injection of the blood from immigrants who still understand what it means to have to bust your ass to improve your condition is a good thing for our country.

My grandparents were (legal) immigrants, I am a lazy slob compared to them. But how can we get the benefits of immigrants and still keep it legal? That seems to be the crux of the discussion.
