This isn’t quite the situation here. The faces on that dingus look like the faces of other tomb guardians of the time or later. Also, one armrest implies two, and I don’t believe any more were found in this (previously undisturbed, I think) tomb.

I believe they used an arm (or wrist) rest when writing or for some painting because unlike a pen, holding a brush up can be tiring.
