OT: got a FB problem that’s bothering me. I’m FB friends with a guy who my better half went to college with. I’ve mentioned him before; completely lost-his-ability-to-see-reality type of conservative. Literally thinks Obama hates success and wants to punish people for it.

He posted a political cartoon the other day of Obama with his arm around an Arab-looking guy with the words “Al Queada” on his shirt. The “terrorist” is wearing a sheep-skin hoodie, like the Big Bad Wolf” with the phrase “Muslim Brotherhood” on it.

Obama is offering the guy the sage advice to lay low until after the election, the implication that Obama knows these guys are trouble and is endorsing them. AKA, working with Al Queda.

Do I drop this guy? I’m not comfortable with the idea of un-friending someone with political views I disagree with, but to me, this is beyond that. This is using your possibly-pathological hatred of Obama to accuse him of treason.

You don’t like Obama, fine. It’s a free country. Just base your opposition to him with reality. This is the side of the modern conservative/GOP movement that scares the living piss out of me.

There were plenty of people suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome, but very few of them had any really sway in the party. Not so with today’s GOP. And quite frankly, I’m not really sure if I want to deal with people this out-of-their-minds.

I’ve completely stopped pussy-footing with FB friends showing wingnut tendencies. I now call them what they are without hestitation.

9 times out of 10, they de-friend me. They hate being told the truth about what they really are.
