This is why I bristle at the idea that I can make common cause with Trumpers. When they say that Trump “just says what we’ve all been thinking,” they are telling me that they have held hateful views all this time but were just scared to say so out loud. So when I see with my own eyes that people are so intensely drawn to this kind of bigotry that they won’t even Google something before screaming at teachers, I know there is nothing I can say to them to bridge that divide.

Trump and the pandemic tore a hole in many of my friendships. I tried to talk, to reason, to ask why, and all I got was either silence or told to jump on the Trump Train. I had some screaming sessions, and so close to blows arguments.
So I said eff it.
I walked away from assholes before, I can do it again.
I was told long ago, if you could count on the fingers of one hand your friends, true friends, you would be fortunate.
It’s the truth.
I looked past dumb and stupid and nobody is perfect and give them a break and it’s just words and nope.
Tore it.
Go stand with yourselves, I’m not standing with you.
It really is a effed up feeling seeing you really didn’t know them after all….
