My thought would be to wonder how many lives those guns will cost. And I do not mean for protection or hunting. Just plain old common everyday American gun problem types of deaths. That would be things like bad handling, kids getting into them with bad results, domestic fights, owner mistaking someone as a bad guy, owner going spree shooter, etc.

It would be interesting to see the total economic cost of the items you mentioned. The costs of healthcare, law enforcement, courts, and lost productivity are likely in the millions if not billions. Moral arguments haven’t worked, maybe economic ones will.
That’s the reason the CDC and the like can’t use Federal funds to research just what you two are asking.
