Yes, the cats start killing mice in the winter.

Essentially kill mice and chipmunks year-round. And they get subsistence rations from my brother so their hunting is a definite addition to their diet since they eat catch. The one cat also likes hunting birds near the bird feeder, but isn’t very successful at it.
