I think it’s well past the time that those of us who are tired of our citizens dying by gun unnecessarily stop coddling the gun-humpers. We tend to use courtesy in our conversations with them while they tend to use insane logic and abusive language to promote their “guns everywhere all of the d*mn time” beliefs. It’s time for some straight talk, and it’s time to tell them some things they might not want to hear. This Snopes article is right. If Christy Sheats hadn’t decided to use her gun to settle a family argument, she and her two beautiful daughters would still be alive, and her husband wouldn’t be dealing with a funeral home and making decisions about whether to bury or cremate his wife and kids. If the gun-humpers can dish it, they should be able to take it. I own guns, but they’re not sacred items for me. They’re tools I have to protect myself since I live alone if someone happens to break into my home. This is the only reason I have them. I don’t have them because I want to show them off or take them into public spaces and intimidate the hell out of my fellow citizens.

Same here. I own a shotgun and live in an extremely isolated area a long way from police. I don’t want to show it off, don’t see the need to carry it everywhere I go, and would have no problem with a titling requirement, because I am not paranoid about the “black guy in the White House” rounding up every gun and owner in the USA.

But the NRA and the GOA thinks every wingnut should not only have a gun, but an arsenal of guns, and sadly the killings in Texas and Oregon will just convince more people to go out and buy more guns (even though in the Texas case it was a family member that did the killing, one of the most common types of gun murder).
