24 is torture porn, simple as that. There’s never any question that the guy Bauer is torturing is “bad,” because the writers go out of their way to show that the guy getting his teeth drilled out is the kinda guy who gets off on stomping puppies and firebombing orphanages.

I never actually watched the show. I had enough of torture porn after I watched Hostel but that does show you why these people I knew were embracing it. They were getting a cartoon character more so than a real human being.
