When the dominos do start to fall for the insurrectionists - and I do expect indictments - the Republicans are going to sound all uppity and declare they had nothing to do with it.

Except for those who will be found to have been involved.

Part of the problem with tightly held religious beliefs is that deprogramming is very, very difficult. The GOP has been taken over by right-wing fundamentalist Christians, and they will not give up their beliefs lightly.

This is the GOP Senators are trying to avoid this impeachment. The five who voted for the trial are either mostly safe in their seat, or trying to get out in front of the eventual mudslide that will happen when indictments start popping.
