Isn’t there a state level textbook selection board in Texas that is usually packed with creationist loons? That board seems to be one of the RWNJs stronger fortresses in the culture war.

There was, but many of them have been voted off of the Board. There are still some crazies, but the back-door textbooks that have tried to be adopted by the loons have pretty much been rejected in the last two or three years. On that level, at least, sanity is holding it’s own.

The big problem this year year is the Legislature is on this biennium and vouchers, charters, and choice will all be up for approval legislatively, while State public school spending will try to be slashed.

And it’s raining like hell again. Damn occluded fronts…
