It’s ironic that in the former Eastern bloc, conservatives can sell the communist era as a plus. Sergey has talked about this a little before with the Communist Party of Russia retaining Marxist ideology but relying on Soviet nostalgia and social conservative ideology.

The local Communist Party (KSČM) is really hardcore socially conservative. If they were God-botherers, they’d feel right at home with the American fundy wingnuts.
