My boss just sent me an article about Trump’s WWII heroes, Patton and MacArthur:
Pretty revealing, I think. America liked Ike. America appreciated, but didn’t like grandiose blowhards and momma’s boys.
Blood and Guts Patton was not nearly as well-liked as his image suggests. The biggest eye-opener I’ve read on Patton came from, believe it or not, Andy Rooney, in his book “My War” - a great book, by the way.
One-line takeaway: A bloodthirsty general is not a friend to the soldiers who have to do the fighting and dying.
