What about him leaving the hotel in a hurry without personal effects? I thought that alone was what made the story so believable in the beginning.

We could speculate all day about what actually happened. A plausible storyline would be: he makes some lewd comment, she plays along, they begin to have a consensual “encounter” of some kind, she starts yelling, he panics and runs?

If he really does have a “reputation” (which by all accounts he does) it makes sense that she may have planned ahead a little bit.
