The first thing I thought of hearing this last night is something I haven’t seen or heard anyone mention. How would those votes happen under those circumstances where prisoners are completely dependent on the “kindness” (if you will) of the guards and warden? For instance, would a vote for a Democrat ever be allowed to be cast if the warden is a Republican? Do we think those votes would ever be private or freely made?

Yeah how do you have a secret ballot in prison? That’s a great question. And honestly I’m not sure how I feel about people serving sentences for violent crimes and voting. Once people serve their time, no question, voting rights restored but while being punished, I can’t totally agree. There’s gotta be some punishment and loss of freedoms if you break the law. Doesn’t mean you should get ruined forever mind you but I do think there should be some losses of privileges that come with citizenship that come with criminal punishment.
