We’re talking about making more than 3 million people homeless.
But we’re not. Are there really 3 million people who can’t afford rent right now? If so then they should be helped within reason.
A blanket eviction ban has many unintended consequences besides distorting the market.
A friend of mine owns an apartment building. She can’t evict bad actors who are damaging the property and making life miserable for other tenants. It’ll cost her 10s of thousands of dollars to fix up the mess once things settle down.
