I remember reading that in the televised debate between JFK and Nixon, appearance made a difference in the public’s perception and in the 1960 presidential election. It was said that JFK came across a handsome and more knowledgeable candidate, and Nixon as a sweaty, bumbling mess.
I heard somewhere that people who SAW it thought Kennedy won. People who only HEARD it on the radio thought Nixon won.
